A moving checklist for a new rental home helps you start early, stay organized, and leave room for the small things that come up. This timeline can help you get from packed boxes to a settled-in first week without trying to do everything at once.
Two to four weeks before your move
1. Confirm the move-in details
Reach out to your leasing team to confirm your move-in appointment, how you will receive keys, and the best contact for questions that day. Ask about parking, unloading, elevator access, or building entry rules before the truck arrives. Every home is different, so it is better to ask than assume.

3. Plan utilities and internet

4. Update your mailing address

Use up or set aside food that will not travel well. Confirm help and transportation. Charge your phone. Put labels on the boxes that need to be unloaded first.

Before unpacking everything, take clear photos of each empty room and any condition details you want to remember. Keep the photos with your move-in paperwork. Test your keys, locks, lights, and appliances as you get settled.
